Synopsis

Taking Care is a 38-minute documentary that follows Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen as they face the challenges of Lauren’s mother’s early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Directed by award-winning filmmaker James Keach (Walk the Line; Glen Campbell… I'll Be Me; Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice), the film captures the Rogens' unique blend of humor and honesty as they navigate the challenges of caregiving.

James Keach is an actor, director, writer, and producer.

In 1980, James produced and starred in the legendary Western The Long Riders with co-stars Stacy Keach, the Carradine brothers and the Quaid brothers. He appeared in films such as National Lampoon’s Vacation with Chevy Chase, The Razor’s Edge with Bill Murray, and Wildcats with Goldie Hawn, and he played a leading role in the 1985 comedy film, Moving Violations. In the 1990’s, his TV work included directing the Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman series.

In 2005, James produced Walk the Line, for which the Producers’ Guild of America nominated him Motion Picture Producer of the Year. Walk the Line was nominated for several Academy and Golden Globe awards, winning the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture and garnering Reese Witherspoon her Academy Award® for Best Actress.

In 2014, after founding PCH Films, James produced and directed the acclaimed documentary Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, which showed the celebrated singer’s unprecedented “Goodbye Tour” after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The film won three Grammy Awards and was nominated for an Academy Award.

James next directed two films focused on neurodegeneration, Augie (ALS) and Turning Point: The Quest for a Cure (Alzheimer’s), and in 2019, he produced Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice, which won a Grammy Award and was named “Best Music Documentary” by the Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards.

James continues to tell inspiring stories that celebrate and shine a light on finding cures for neurodegenerative diseases.

Lauren Miller Rogan Headshot

Lauren Miller Rogen is a screenwriter, director, producer, and philanthropist who was profoundly affected by Alzheimer’s when her mother, Adele, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 55 years old. With her husband Seth Rogen, Lauren co-founded Hilarity for Charity (HFC) to harness hope and humor while caring for families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease, inspiring the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates, and being a leader in disease prevention research and brain health education. Since then, HFC has raised more than 20 million dollars and awarded over 405,000 hours of in-home family care. Lauren is on the board of California’s Institute of Regenerative Medicine and sits on the California Alzheimer’s Task Force. In 2022, Seth and Lauren were awarded The Public Leadership in Neurology Award from the American Brain Foundation for their work to advance public awareness, research, and understanding of neurological diseases.

Lauren’s artistic accomplishments include starring in, co-writing, and producing the film For A Good Time Call and directing the Alzheimer’s-themed dramedy Like Father, starring Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer.

Seth Rogen is an award-winning actor, writer, producer, director, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

He produced and starred in Hulu’s Emmy® Award-winning series Pam & Tommy and the Peacock docuseries Paul T. Goldman. Recently, he starred in Apple TV+’s Platonic and Steven Spielberg's semi-autobiographical Academy Award®-nominated film The Fablemans. He produced and starred in the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, as well as the animated adaptation of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, in which he voiced the iconic “Donkey Kong.”

Next, Seth is starring in the Sony and Black Bear Pictures’ film Dumb Money, as well as starring in and producing an Apple TV+ Untitled comedy series. He is producing the Paramount+ spinoff TV series, Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Amazon’s Sausage Party: Foodtopia.

Seth became a New York Times best-selling author for his book, Yearbook. In 2019, he launched Houseplant, a Canadian cannabis company dedicated to product quality and consumer education. The company has since expanded to the United States and added a line of home goods to its collection. In 2012, Seth and his wife Lauren Miller Rogen founded Hilarity for Charity (HFC), a national nonprofit dedicated to changing the trajectory of Alzheimer’s disease.
